E2: Modern Slavery: Closer than you think

by Aitana Ramírez de Arellano Santi, Danielė Makulavičiūtė, Rachelle Weeda & Taurai Chigovanyika

Abstract

Four MSc. Sustainable Development students, Aitana, Danielė, Rachelle, and Taurai (Tau), discuss Modern Slavery, a rapidly growing example of a modern-day inequality hidden in plain sight in our everyday lives. Modern Slavery is a complex issue that persists despite numerous measures to reduce it. Sustainable Development Goal 10 aims to reduce inequality worldwide to achieve a just and cohesive society. In this podcast, we attempt to find what inequality means to individuals and how it relates to modern slavery. We also aim to raise awareness and show how everyone has a role in the fight against modern slavery and global inequality. We can all contribute to reducing inequality, and all efforts count. None is too small or too insignificant!
